This section tells you a little bit about the theoretical principals of creative arts therapy. Modern creative arts therapy is based upon principles developed by Virginia Axline. Creative arts counselling and therapy has emerged as a mainstream mental health profession.

Every therapist offering creative arts psychotherapy should be a member of a professional membership body such as the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. (BACP)

Our therapist offers both non directive and directive elements to the therapy sessions. Cognitive Behavioural Techniques , Sensorimotor and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy approaches can also form part of a therapy session as and when the need arises.

In applying these principles a therapist uses a comprehensive Creative Arts Therapy Kit which will enable the therapist to worth with the client in a safe, non judgmental and creative way.
